Hibernation, Pizza et Goop!!

We had another great Monday with Mme. Cayci!!!   This morning one of the children was wondering why his tree in his front yard was dead.  We thought about this for a little bit and came to the conclusion that the tree was probably not dead, it had just lost all of its leave because Winter is coming.  This also lead into the topic of hibernation.  We talked about how trees hibernate and then we asked what other things hibernate.  

Here are some of our answers:

* Frogs - E.T

* Bats - S.A

We also asked ``Why do squirrels gather a bunch of food?``

* Hibernation - E.S

"Sometimes we see squirrels digging and gathering food, why do we think they do that?"

*They are digging holes to 

get ready for winter - S.O

We will have to gather more information regarding hibernation since it was a very interesting topic today :)

We also learned a new song to go along with our Pizza theme inquiry in the dramatic play area. The song is called

We had fun making pretend pizza's in our dramatic play area.  We also talked about all the ingredients that the song talks about.  
``fromage, pepperoni, oignons, champignons, poivrons vert, etc``

We have also been busy writing out the words of the ingredients for the pizzas. 

A.B decided to write our new Pizza vocabulary today  :)

Mme. Cayci also brought in some corn starch and we made some Goop (corn starch and water).  The children had a ton of fun playing with this new sensory experience. 

We were also very creative today with our building blocks, geo-blocks and connecting straws :)   Here are a few of the things that we made ... 

``I'm making a pyramid of the superheroes, Spider-Man too`` - C.C

"I made a helicopter - C.C. (We saw a helicopter in the sky outside our window this morning during morning circle).

"A castle with a knights horses" - R.D

R.T made two shapes with the straw connectors and knew that they were a square and a triangle (carré et triangle)

In the afternoon we watched three videos about les parties du corps and les couleurs.  We are getting so good at knowing all our body parts and colours in French.  We can tell you are all practicing at home :)

Even though it was a rainy day, we sure did make the most of it
