Volcano's and birthdays :)

We had such a great week.  It was jam packed with fun activities.

We finally got to do our volcano science experiment on Monday. We got to erupt our volcano :)  Sadly the volcano did not erupt the way we had planned.  Although we did hear it fizz.  We mixed baking baking soda, water and red food colouring.

E.L made volcano's at the free art table!

This week we also talked a lot about Spring / Printemps.  We talked about what we need to make plants grow?

We discovered that we need Seeds (graines), soil (sol), water (eau) and sun (soleil).

We made grass buddies this week with Mrs. S and also made a plant journal so we could document the stages of growth of our grass :)

Here are a few other things we got up too this week ...

We have been practicing how to write our Spring words at the writing center.

We have also started to learn about Les Formes (Shapes) with Mme. Cayci

We made a new addition to our classroom and made a Shape banner

A.T told us "I used 3 traingles to make a square"

We have been noticing les formes everywhere, including the blocks that we play with.

Using various shapes / formes to make letters of the alphabet

C.S and A.T used many shapes to make beautiful pieces of work. C.S made a spaceship and A.T made a Monster :)

D.R (jk) and M.R were having a great time making patterns with the coloured alphabet pieces.

We had a week filled with Birthdays ...
Thursday was Ms. Mallamo's Birthday and Friday was Mme. Cayci's Birthday :)

Friday we celebrated Mme. Cayci's birthday by making birthday crowns and balloons.  We also had the children decorate cupcakes and we watched the movie Frozen as a special treat.  We talked about all our French winter vocabulary that related to the movie. "l'hiver, la glace, la neige, and bonhomme de neige". The kids found it funny how the "bonhomme de neige" didn't know what happened to la neige in the summer, so we talked about the snow melting because of le soleil.

We had such a great week!!!
See you on Monday.

Monday was St. Patrick's Day!!

A.T made some shamrocks using toilet paper rolls dipped in paint.

Some friends showed a real interest in making story books this week.  S.O and R.D made several books.

First S.O painted a picture and then she wrote a story to go with it

"One day Julie woke up it was St. Patrick's day. There was a rainbow and clovers.  She put on her clothes, she got on the bus.  She waved goodbye to mommy. She wore green." - S.O
