Lego, blocks, and lacing activities

We had a good Thursday!  In the morning we had Mr. Sarsfield (a supply teacher) and he read up some rhyming books.  

We made some fun winter scenes!!!

We also had a great time playing with the blocks, making

We had a fantastic Friday with Mrs. Moodie (supply teacher).  This morning she read the book "Veggies, Smeggies".  We talked about healthy foods and also rhyming words!

Mrs. Moodie also brought in some nice Christmas colouring sheets and also brought in a Christmas stocking lacing activity :). We were working on our fine motor skills!!!

We also were making our friends names out of foam letters

R.T was playing with the bear lace dress up activity

A.T was sorting the coloured pegs by colour!

Let it snow ...

We had a very quiet snow day today with less then half the class at school. This morning we practiced our song for the Christmas concert with Mme. Cayci :)  We already know the chorus!  Great work guys, we can tell that you are practicing.  

We also were talking about les couleurs.  We asked "ce sont des couleurs de Noël?
-E.S "rouge"

- S.O "vert" 

This morning E.S, S.O, L.M and R.T made snowy pictures at the art table.  Everyone is so excited about all the snow that we got.

R.D made a Christmas light!

We have been making Christmas stockings to hang up in our dramatic play area.

A few friends decided that they wanted to play school in our library area this morning.  R.D made a sign-in sheet (just like what we have each morning before carpet time), they also took attendance, and had a quiet story time.  

We were also counting snowflakes at our light table :)

 We also had a great outdoor time!!!  We were making snowmen, forts and even snow angels. we loved playing in all the snow we got this morning.

Les formes, les biscuits and the four food groups!!!

We had a great Monday with Mme. Cayci!!! We talked about les formes (shapes), patterns, and we changed our house corner into a Christmas Bakery.  

We made cookies our of felt, and play dough to go with our new bakery inquiry!!!

A big thank you to C.S for making play dough this past weekend!  The children really loved the colours, and the grape scent :)  We had such a great time making gingerbread cookies, and other types of cookies! 

Dinosaurs is also a constant theme in our classroom.  We absolutely love them  :)  We have been counting them, and sorting them by colour.

We have been making some pretty amazing structures!  This top picture took up almost our whole library area :)   We have many creative thinkers!!!

We have been so great at making patterns at all the various centers that we play in.

We had a great Tuesday with Ms. Mallamo today.  This morning we talked about the four food groups! We asked the students if they could think of some healthy foods, here are a few of our answers ... 

C.C - steak

S.O- celery

E.T- carrotsa

D.R- tomatoes

S.S- beans and chicken

We also thought of some unhealthy foods, and here are a few of our answers ... 

E.L- popcorn

F.C - chocolate

S.Y- treats / cupcakes

here is what we got up too today ... 

We watched a kids healthy eating video that explained our four food groups. We also made a tally with Mrs. Tierny of which of the four food groups our morning snack fell into. We had a ton of fruits and vegetables group  :)

R.D really loves making surveys and tally's :)

H.M made patterns using the felt icing for our bakery cookies!!! 

We loved colouring these race cars and cupcakes and then cutting them out all by ourselves.  We were working on our fine motor skills and having a really fun time doing it :)

We also has gym class today!!!  

In the event that tomorrow is a snow day pizza day will be rescheduled to Thursday so please pack a lunch!!!

Thursday and Friday!

We had a busy end to our week!! Here is a look at some of the things we did on Thursday with Ms. Mallamo... 

 Our interest in patterns continued :)

M.R made an "AB" pattern using red and blue

M.H was proud of his "ABC" pattern of "yellow, green, blue"

C.C and F.C made a very creative Zoo

E.L also made a zoo  :)

S.O has really been enjoying walking around the classroom and writing words that she finds.  Great work!!!

H.M had fun tracing letters with the coloured gems. 

E.T and H.M were matching the large uppercase foam letters with the letter gems :)

A.B spelled the word "no"

S.S, E.T and H.M having fun at the foam letter center. 

C.C and L.M making a cat house.  These two love to create amazing things at our free art table :)

R.D and M.H made snakes our of Popscile sticks.  They named them "Fire, Ice, Gas Guy, Hot Lava and Slimy Proof".  Great work boys :)

We had a great end to our week on Friday with Mme. Cayci! Here is what we did Friday ... 

R.T painted the top picture, E.S painted the bottom, and H.M drew le père Noël

A.T was so proud to show us how she sorted the uppercase and lowercase foam letters :)

As you can tell, the children have started to talk about Christmas! We had some fun educational games up on the smart board. 

R.D made some Binoculars to look for "les oiseaux" in the tree outside our classroom. 

D.R(sk) was busy making more "serpents" like a few of his friends had done the day before. 

C.S so proud of the rocket that he made out of various materials at our free art center :)

C.C was very proud to show us his shirt which has a real picture of his "chat" Charlie on it. He was showing everyone in the class :)     

R.D made a knight out of construction paper. 

C.C really enjoyed playing at the light table center.

E.L also told me that "Block and clock rhyme". We are always learning in our classroom :) 

S.O, S.S, S.B, T.C were all making des biscuits en pain d'épice (gingerbread cookies)

We had a wonderful Friday.  The children have started to talk about Noël.  We also started to practice our song for the Christmas concert.  We are singing "Quand le père Noël vient me visiter".  We will keep everyone posted about information regarding the Christmas Concert very soon.  Here is the link to the youtube video.
