Syllables, ice cube painting and horses!

Thursday morning at circle we continued to talk about syllables with Ms. Mallamo :)

We were clapping out the syllables of words! We also did an activity where we had too figure out if a word had 2 or 3 syllables in the word.

Our castle is looking great  :)

C.S came to school with his cape and king crown!!

She even counted them and told us that she had used more than 40!

We are really enjoying our Castle inquiry!  Our students have been making Castles at all our centers.

A few friends wanted to write in their journals today.  They were asked to write about something they did on their Christmas holiday or one of their favorite toys from Christmas!   A.D and S.A both drew dolls that they received for Christmas.  Great writing girls!!!

We did some painting with ice cubes also!!  The children has such a great time making  fabulous pieces of art.  Unfortunately, most of the artwork got too wet and had to be thrown away.  This time it was all about the experience :)

C.S and C.C were having a great time making different robots out of the little shapes.

We did some yoga in the afternoon right after quiet time to stretch our muscles so we could be nice and refreshed for our afternoon centers!

We have also been practicing our counting and letter recognition.  R.T, E.S and M.H were playing at this center in the afternoon!

R.D was playing a game on the Smart board which required him to match pictures with the appropriate letter that the picture started with.

We had a great Friday with Mme. Cayci. This morning we continued to make things for our Castle area.

Ms. Whitteker made us some hobby horses for our Castle since a few students were saying we needed horses.  E.L and F.C had a great time playing with the horses!

This morning we also had a practice lock down. We did such a great job, and we were all so quiet.  Mr. Santos was very proud of us!!!

"It's a tower for my owl" - M.H

Students have been having such a great time crafting with all the materials that are being donated to our class!!!  Thank you so much for all the boxes, egg cartons and paper towel rolls!!! We really appreciate it :)

R.K, D.R(SK) and B.M made another great racetrack!  It even had cool tunnels for the cars to race under  :)

In the afternoon we did some religion.  We talked about our board theme "By our works we show out faith".

We asked "how do we show God that we love him?" Here are a few of our answers....

* "We clean our messes" - S.B

* "We hug family when they're sad" - B.M
* "We share with other people that don't have toys" - H.M
* "We can pray" - E.T
* "We can recycle what's recyclable. It helps the trees grow" - S.O
* "Take care if the world that God made" - S.A
* "Pray on the weekends cause it's fun" - E.L

We had such a wonderful and busy day.  We hope everyone has a great weekend!
See you on Monday :)
